Shaping Young Minds: The Effects of Teachers on Socio-Emotional Skills

Jerry Montonen (Aalto University) presents research on how teachers shape students’ socio-emotional skills such as extroversion and conscientiousness and the long-term labor market returns of these effects.

The study shows that these skills, often missed by test score-based evaluations, significantly affect earnings in adulthood and that teacher training may play a role in developing more effective educators.
