About the event

Dear colleagues,

Earth’s orbit is becoming dangerously crowded, with thousands of satellites and debris fragments threatening vital systems like GPS, communications and weather monitoring. A recent global focus on Starlink’s massive constellation and Chinese satellite activity underscores rising collision risks, with some experts warning that orbital crowding could trigger cascading debris that makes parts of space unusable.

For Kazakhstan, which relies on satellite services and sits near rapidly expanding regional space activity, even a single major collision could have real impacts. Prof. Dmitry Sizov, aerospace expert at Nazarbayev University (NU), leads pioneering research on tracking space debris and its risks, and will break down what this means now for the region and the world.

Join us for a concise, café style briefing on this emerging global hazard. We will share exclusive insights and commentary for everyone outside this scientific discussion.
