About the event
Dear NU Community,
The Department of Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) invites the NU community to a lecture by Thomas Hazell, PhD candidate in Politics at the University of Oxford.
The talk will explore how bureaucratic managers make hiring decisions in environments with a weak rule of law. Drawing on new data on district-level bureaucratic appointments in Kazakhstan, the research examines how informal political dynamics and patronage networks influence hiring practices despite formal civil service regulations.
All members of the NU community are welcome to attend.
