About the event
Join us for an engaging research seminar with Dr. Selina Ho, Vice-Dean (Research and Development) and Dean’s Chair Associate Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. Dr. Ho is a leading scholar on the role of infrastructure in global power dynamics and China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
In this talk, Dr. Ho will explore how China uses infrastructure to project power and how Southeast Asian countries respond - from resisting and reshaping Beijing’s initiatives to leveraging them for their own benefit. Drawing on extensive field research and her acclaimed book Rivers of Iron, she will also discuss the progress of the ambitious pan-Asian high-speed railway project and examine the agency of smaller states in the face of China’s expanding influence.
