The History, Philosophy, and Religious Studies Department invites you to a public conversation with Zhaksylyq Sabitov, a Kazakh historian and population geneticist. He combines historical sources, oral genealogies (shezhire), and population genetics to explore the origins and development of Kazakh clans and Inner Asian populations.

In this talk, he will discuss how recent research reshapes our understanding of Kazakh history, the challenges of historical debates in contemporary society, and the value of historical education for students and the broader public.
