About the event
ISSAI invites you to a guest lecture on “A Diffusion Policy in the Era of Foundational Models for Robotics” by Dr. Tasbolat Taunyazov.
Dr. Tasbolat Taunyazov holds a Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore, where his research focused on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. He is currently a technical team member at Light Robotics, where he contributes to cutting-edge advancements in robotics technology. Dr. Taunyazov completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Nazarbayev University, specializing in nonlinear control for robotic manipulators.
About the lecture:
The lecture will cover the potential of diffusion policies - a type of generative model - to advance the development of foundational models for robotics. Starting with an accessible introduction to generative models and their applications in robotics, the discussion will delve into the principles and unique advantages of diffusion policies, particularly in addressing complex and dynamic decision-making scenarios. Recent successes in utilizing diffusion policies to enhance robotic capabilities, will be highlighted, demonstrating how these models are paving the way for more adaptive, efficient, and robust autonomous systems. Finally, the lecture will examine the opportunities and challenges involved in building next-generation foundational models for robotics, offering valuable insights into how these technologies could shape the future of the field.
