About the event
As part of the Culture and Society lecture series, the Sociology and Anthropology Department invites you to a guest lecture by Egor Makarov, PhD student at the University of Virginia.
This talk explores how modern societies conceptualize catastrophe - shifting from rare, exceptional events to calculable risks and examines how these practices are shaping emerging insurance markets in Kazakhstan.
