About the event

Nazarbayev University will host a Chemistry Seminar featuring an invited lecture by Professor Charl Faul, Professor of Materials Chemistry and Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement), Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Bristol, UK.

Professor Faul will present “Fuel from CO2, Clean Water and Energy Storage – Solving Global Challenges with Functional Porous Materials”, focusing on how advanced functional porous polymeric materials can contribute to sustainable solutions for CO2 utilisation, energy storage, and water purification.

He will discuss recent strategies in designing conjugated microporous polymeric materials (CMPs) for applications including CO₂ conversion, green solvents, battery electrolytes, hydrogen storage, Li-ion battery electrodes, and water purification, highlighting their potential to address global challenges sustainably.
