About the event
Join Mollie Arbuthnot (HPRS, PhD University of Manchester) for a lecture on how early Soviet artists visualized nationality in propaganda posters.
The talk explores the creation of the “new Soviet Uzbek” using faces, clothing, and other visual cues to express collective identity, while navigating the tensions between ideology, ethnicity, and imperial stereotypes.
Open to the NU community.
