About the event

The Graduate School of Public Policy invites the NU community to a research seminar by Dr. Omer F. Baris, Associate Professor of Economics.

In his talk, Dr. Baris reframes Universal Basic Income (UBI) as an efficiency-enhancing policy in the age of automation, rather than a redistributive one. Drawing on a general-equilibrium model with endogenous wages and externalities, he explores how UBI can improve welfare and correct labor market misallocations as AI transforms the nature and purpose of work.
