Design and Investigations of Nematic Systems

The Chemistry Seminar at Nazarbayev University will feature an invited research lecture titled “Design and Investigations of Nematic Systems”, delivered by Professor Georg Mehl, Chemistry, School of Natural

Sciences, University of Hull, Hull HU6 7RX, UK; & Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, PR.

The lecture will focus on recent advances in nematic liquid crystal systems, including emerging nematic subphases such as twist-bend and ferroelectric nematics, molecular design strategies, and modern characterization techniques. Drawing on extensive international research experience, Professor Mehl will discuss challenges in identifying chiral superstructures and optimizing molecular architectures in functional soft self-assembly systems.
