About the event

If you are interested in how crises reshape societies in real time - redefining who is included, who is excluded, and why - join us for an engaging seminar by Dr. Jonathan Preminger (Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University, UK).

At the heart of the talk is a pressing question: when states and employers depend on noncitizen workers yet frame them as political outsiders, what happens during an extreme security crisis? Drawing on empirical research from the labour market in Israel/Palestine after October 2023, Dr. Preminger examines how access, entry, and employment conditions are renegotiated during disruption - and why economic pressures for inclusion often persist even under crisis.

The seminar will be of interest to those working in politics, sociology, migration and law, security studies, development, inequality, ethics, and labour research. Dr. Preminger will also reflect on the methodological challenges of researching borders, labour, and power in fast-moving and politically sensitive contexts.

Please come along, and bring a colleague who enjoys a seminar that leaves you thinking long after it ends.
