About the event

Prof. Shazim Memon, Alexey Remizov, and Saule Sadykova presented a new Composite Performance Index (CPI) — a fairer and more transparent framework for evaluating research. CPI combines 16 metrics, including productivity, citations, top journal publications, authorship roles, and international collaboration, into a single score.

Using SciVal data from 1996–2025, the study identified Kazakhstan’s top 1% researchers by discipline and overall performance, benchmarked against the global top 2% list. The findings show that academic excellence extends beyond productivity, and the CPI offers a consistent tool for assessing research, with future updates planned to support early-career researchers and include qualitative indicators.
